NPR is streaming Spoon's new album, Transference. I've only listened to it once (on my laptop speakers, no less), so my opinion is merely a snap judgment. It sounds like a retreat from the big production and instant likability of their last album. It's loose (uncharacteristic for the band), and even more stripped down than their previous records. Overall, I'm underwhelmed. I hope it's a grower.
Transference drops on Tuesday.
